ICML has expanded its Associate Membership benefits, now offering discounted rates for certification exams, retakes, and recertifications to members. Additionally, members gain a one-year access to the ICML eLibrary, which contains an expanding collection of lubrication-focused publications and media. Furthermore, the Associate Membership is now accessible to non-certified professionals interested in joining ICML’s global efforts.

“This exciting expansion of our Associate Membership package is in keeping with ICML’s mission that supports hard-working lubrication and oil analysis practitioners with opportunities for educational and professional development,” said Executive Director Leslie Fish. “Individual membership will continue enabling practitioners everywhere to have a personal stake in ICML’s mission, now even more so with these new enhancements.”

First-time Associates will also receive a free digital download of ICML 55.0, “Optimized Lubrication of Mechanical Physical Assets Overview,” which serves as the executive summary of the seminal ICML 55® global standard for lubricated asset management.

The pricing for the Associate Member package has been updated to accommodate the new benefits, set at $160/year for certified individuals and $195/year for non-certified, with an initial one-time processing fee for the first year. This adjustment aligns with the pricing structures of similar nonprofit entities in the Maintenance & Reliability sector. ICML-certified members have the option of a three-year membership designed to coincide with the recertification timeline.

“Overall, these changes for individual members are aimed at improving our ability to offer the kinds of quality benefits, resources, and experiences that practitioners have come to expect from ICML,” said Marketing Manager Paul Hiller. “These changes will make it possible for us to sustain significant, useful offerings for all, while at the same time positioning ICML for future plans.”

The application procedure for ICML’s Associate Membership remains the same, requiring applicants to fill out and submit a PDF form. New members receive a unique ID for accessing exam discounts and the eLibrary.

Corporate memberships, including Full, Supporting, and Affiliate levels, will undergo revisions soon to incorporate the enhanced Associate benefits. Detailed information and application links for all membership types are available on the ICML Membership webpage.

Existing Associate Members will need to choose between continuing under their current plan or upgrading to the revised, more beneficial plan; automatic transition to the new plan is not provided.

The Membership Role of ICML’s eLibrary

ICML’s eLibrary, powered by River Publishers, stands as a key attraction for Associate Members, offering 24/7 access to a comprehensive, impartial educational hub for both members and the public. This digital library boasts an expanding selection of content aimed at professional development, covering both cutting-edge subjects and foundational knowledge essential for career progression.

Members have the opportunity to contribute their works for potential inclusion in the eLibrary, enriching the repository.

The platform enables users to engage with over 10,000 pages of material through reading, annotating, note-taking, and searching functionalities. It also offers the option to purchase downloadable versions of any book within the eLibrary.

The collection includes the full series of ICML 55 Standards, and any new materials—books, articles, guides, podcasts, etc.—introduced during a member’s subscription period are incorporated into their access without additional charges.

While non-members can access the eLibrary for a $250 annual fee, ICML Associates enjoy this benefit as part of their membership at a significantly reduced rate of $160 or $195, highlighting the value added by membership.

“Members will have access to the entire ICML 55 series plus everything else that will constantly be added to the eLibrary—all for an annual Associate Membership fee that is less than a single ICML 55.2 book alone,” notes Hiller. “We really, really want lubrication professionals to have access to this digital library that will become a massive resource of published media content.”
